One of Major League Baseball’s premier outfielders, Yoenis Cespedes signed a four-year, $110 million contract with the New York Mets prior to the start of the 2017 season. Cespedes’ contract is the largest free agent contract in Mets’ history and is the highest Average Annual Value ($27.5 million) for an outfielder in MLB history.
Traded to New York in July of 2015, Cespedes sparked the Mets’ improbable run to the World Series by batting .287 with 17 home runs and 44 RBI in just 57 games. For the full season with both the Mets and Detroit Tigers, Cespedes hit .291 with 35 homers and 105 RBI and won his first Gold Glove Award. He ranked in MLB’s top 10 in runs, hits, RBI, total bases, doubles, extra base hits, slugging percentage, and WAR. Cespedes helped lead the Mets back to the playoffs in 2016 with another 30+ home run season.
Prior to joining the Mets, Cespedes won the 2013 Home Run Derby, and then successfully defended his title by winning the 2014 Home Run Derby to join Ken Griffey Jr. as the only players to win in consecutive seasons. Cespedes was elected to his first MLB All-Star Game in 2014.
Cespedes’s brand partners include Franklin, New Balance, Rawlings, Panini Mizuno, Stubhub and Topps.
